FAQs

What software is Premium Chains compatible with?

Premium Chains is compatible with both Blender 4.3.1 and above and ZBrush 2022.0.6 and above.

In Blender, Premium Chains is not a brush pack but a procedural setup using a curve and instanced meshes. You can position and deform the chain by editing the curve, and control the chain type and size using custom properties in the sidebar.

In ZBrush, the chains are provided as an .ZBP IMM Brush, ready for drag-and-drop placement on your models.

How do I use Premium Chains in Blender?

Simply open the included PremiumChains.blend file. The procedural chain setup will be ready to use, with all meshes and controls preloaded. You can:

Edit the curve to change the chain’s shape and direction.

Select the curve and open the side panel (N key) to access the Chain Type and Chain Size sliders.

Optionally add modifiers like Subdivision Surface to the mesh object for a smoother result.

How do I import brushes into ZBrush?

You can import IMM Brushes into ZBrush in several ways:

  • Go to Brush > Load Brush and select the .ZBP file.
  • Drag and drop the brush file directly into the ZBrush interface.
  • To load the brush automatically on startup, place it in the ZStartup/BrushPresets folder.

What is an IMM Brush and how does it work?

An IMM (Insert Multi Mesh) Brush lets you insert pre-made 3D mesh elements directly onto your model’s surface. It’s perfect for adding repetitive details like chains, zippers, stitches, and more with speed and precision.
